K-Gr 2-Fictional children describe family celebrations in these volumes that are suitable for either individual or group reading. In each title, short chapters have double-page layouts that showcase preparations, discuss the featured event's history and origins, and describe how the narrator's family celebrates it. Religious aspects are covered in a general way that emphasizes history and tradition. Paragraph-length sidebars provide supplemental details. All the cartoon illustrations are nicely done, with bright colors and animated characters-although those drawn by Saunders are the most engaging. The books conclude with instructions for a simple craft or recipe. Appealing selections.
